What’s the Deal with the 2023 COPO Camaro?
The newest COPO Camaro model was made specifically for drag racing and competition, which makes it faster and harder to find than your average vehicle.
It has three engine options – the naturally aspirated COPO 427 engine that gives this model its name, a supercharged LSX 350, and the brand new fuel-injected 632 engine that’s making everyone call this Camaro the most powerful muscle car yet.
But the 632 engine is special for more than just its horsepower – it’s also unique because it’s never been sold as part of a fully-complete vehicle before.
The First Time a 632 Engine is Being Sold as Part of a Vehicle
The 632 is a 10L V8 engine with 1,004 horsepower when using 93 octane gas. It was originally created and sold last year as a separate engine for race car builders, but now it’s a main part of Chevy’s racing car line.

What Engines are in the Current Corvette Models?
The street-legal 2023 Camaro has four engines – a standard 2.0L turbo, a 3.6L V6, a 6.2L LT1 V8, and a 6.2L LT4 supercharged V8 for the ZL1 model.
While these are some of the most powerful engines for street-legal muscle cars, none of them even come close to the size and horsepower of the 632 engine.

The COPO Camaro Can Only be Found on a Race Track
According to Chevy’s website, the COPO Camaro “is not street legal and therefore can not be registered in any of the 50 states.” It also doesn’t come with a title or VIN, which means you can only own it as a collector or for use on a race track.
The good news is it can be sold by U.S.-based Chevy dealers or through Chevrolet’s website. Just keep in mind a $15,000 deposit is required just to secure a build spot right now.
