New images of Chevrolet’s electric 2024 Blazer modified as a police pursuit vehicle have recently been released. This is the first pursuit-rated EV for Chevrolet in its six decades of making police vehicles. The police model of the Blazer EV is a modified version of the retail Blazer EV SS, which was also recently revealed by GM.

Blazer EV Police Pursuit Specs

As a modified version of the retail Blazer EV model, the police pursuit Blazer EV will include skid plates, steel wheels, police-rated tires, and support for emergency equipment. Chevrolet is well-known for its support of law enforcement by making specialized vehicles for police forces around the country. This new Blazer EV will feature excellent performance for pursuit, classic Chevrolet reliability, and a fast-charging feature to keep it on the road as much as possible. To increase its range and performance, the Blazer EV police pursuit vehicle will use the largest Ultium battery available.

Modified Interior For Police Duty

The interior of the Blazer EV police pursuit vehicle has also enjoyed some modifications to make it more suitable for a patrol car. The front seats have been designed to accommodate various gear used by police, and the rear seat and trunk of the SUV have a larger cargo capacity. A rear camera mirror allows for a wide field of view behind the vehicle. The final specs and range for the new Blazer EV police pursuit vehicle will be out closer to its release date, which is expected to be the first quarter of 2024. It’s expected to go into production by the first quarter of 2024, but prices and ordering information should be available by mid-2023.

Blazer EV SS

We can extrapolate further on what the police pursuit version of the Blazer EV might look like based on the retail version. For example, the Blazer EV’s range depends on the trim level. The SS Blazer gets 290 miles on one charge, while the top RS trim gets 320 miles on a charge. The police pursuit vehicle may get more miles per charge than these retail trims, but it’s also expected to charge faster.

The retail version of the Blazer EV can recharge about 78 miles of range in 10 minutes. In terms of power, the Blazer EV SS has an AWD option that makes 557 horsepower and as much as 648 pound-feet of torque. We can probably expect the police version to go above and beyond these numbers.

All we can say is we can’t wait for these bad boys to be used cars, so we get to experience it too.
