Road Trip Ready: How the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox Performs on Long Drives

The 2024 Chevy Equinox is the small SUV that can do it all, including providing you with the perfect road trip vehicle for your long journeys.

If you’ve thought about getting a Chevrolet Equinox there is a long list of reasons why it is a good choice.  But how does it perform on long drives? Let’s take a look.

Plenty of Power to Get You Where You Want to Go

The Chevrolet Equinox has plenty of power for any trip whether it’s around town or across the country. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine generates 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. You can take you trip any time of year and through any type of weather conditions because this SUV offers all-wheel drive for extra traction when you need it.

Fun and Efficient

With turbo charged power there’s no question that the Equinox is fun to drive, but it’s also efficient, too. When you’re taking a long drive, you don’t want to have to stop at every gas station to fill up, and with an EPA rating of up to 31 mpg on the highway, you can just keep driving.

Entertainment on the Go

What’s a road trip without some good music and a podcast or two? The Equinox makes it easy to get all your infotainment and entertainment. It has a 7-inch touchscreen in the entry-level LS trim, but you can get an 8-inch screen. It comes loaded with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so your phone screen displays right on the touchscreen. When you need to plug in, there are four USB ports, and if you need to charge a laptop the available 120-volt household style power outlet will do the trick.

Road Trip Safety Come Standard

Whether you stay close to home or travel hours away, safety is important. The Chevrolet Equinox comes with a long list of advanced driver aids to help keep everyone safe. The forward collision warning and automatic braking will help prevent collisions, and lane-departure mitigation will warn you if you’re driving out of your lane. There’s even a rear seat reminder, so you never forget when you have little ones or pets in the back seat.

These safety systems are just the beginning. The Equinox also offers a blind-spot warning system, because let’s face it, we don’t always remember to check out blind-spots, and it offer rear parking sensors that alert you if an obstacle is in your way when backing up.

Comfort on the Road

If you’re headed out on a long trip, you want to be comfortable. The Equinox has plenty of space in the cabin for all five passengers to stretch their legs and sit comfortably. If it gets cold outside, the heated seats will warm you up and the dual-zone automatic climate control will help keep your rear seat passengers warm or cool. If your trip is during the summer, make sure to take advantage of the available ventilated front seats.
