10 Things You’re Sure to Love About the New Cadillac Lyriq EV

Cadillac brings the new Lyriq EV to the market in 2023, giving us a new and impressive electric SUV that delivers on the promise of Cadillac luxury.

This will be the first all-electric vehicle under the brand name, and it should offer the foundation for future models to arrive and join the mix. The Lyriq does what Cadillac loves to do by being a midsize crossover. This brand has a habit of giving us the middle model before building the larger and smaller version, which we hope are on the horizon.

1. The Right Price to Entice New Owners

The new Lyriq will be in direct competition with the Tesla Model X, Audi E-Tron, and Mercedes-Benz EQC. This matchup means pricing could matter and become the differentiator when shopping for the right luxury electric SUV. We expect the Lyriq to offer a price of about $60,000 when the base model arrives in the fall. That will put the Caddy below all three models mentioned by $6,000 or more. Could that be enough to bring divers to the Cadillac dealership to find the EV they want to drive?

2. Driving Range to Keep the Lyriq Competitive

A fully-charged battery in the Cadillac Lyriq EV could mean up to 312 miles of driving on a single full charge. This range is rated for the single-motor version of this SUV, which brings 340 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. The power numbers might sound a bit low, but when the dual-motor model arrives next spring, that will change. Recharging the Lyriq goes pretty quick, with 76 miles of charge added in ten minutes using a DC fast charger.

3. This Cadillac SUV Offers a Quiet Cabin

Because the Lyriq is an EV, it’s already pretty quiet, but the cabin uses noise-canceling technology to make it even quieter for you. If you’ve had a hard day at work and need a quiet ride home to clear your head, the variety of noise reduction elements in this SUV will help make that possible. There is nothing worse than a luxury drive interrupted by noise. Thankfully, Cadillac took that into consideration and gives you a silent ride in this electric SUV.

4. Superior Driving Using Super Cruise

This new Cadillac EV will bring the benefits of Super Cruise to the market. This feature is a system of items that allow drivers to enjoy this vehicle while taking their hands off the wheel and their feet off the pedals. Using the various driving-assistance features, cameras, sensors, and LiDAR mapping, the vehicle knows where you are on the road and keeps you there. This isn’t an autonomous system, but it’s useful when stuck in traffic or on long highways to give you a short break from the rigors of driving.

5. A Dominant Screen for All Your Information

How big is the infotainment display in the Cadillac Lyriq EV? It’s 33 inches and curved toward the driver to give you all of the information you want when you’re ready to take this SUV out for a drive. The advanced LED display offers various functions, including infotainment, instrument gauge readings, and controls for various vehicle functions. This screen can function as one entire unit or be split into three different screens with different information on each one.

6. The Ultium Battery Platform is Excellent

The proprietary Ultium batteries we’ve seen used for the GMC Hummer EV will be part of the new Lyriq. This system offers a 100-kWh battery pack to give this SUV the charging capabilities and driving range necessary for everyday use. Because you can charge this SUV quickly at a DC fast charger, you’ll never feel range anxiety when you’re using the Cadillac EV. Instead, you can relax and enjoy the ride to your next destination.

7. Welcome Lighting to Make You Feel Great

The Cadillac Lyriq EV has a set of lights that welcome your approach and let you know this SUV is ready to hit the road and take you wherever you want to go. The interior drama offers several adjustments to ensure you have the comfortable position you want to enjoy. The memory settings for the driver’s side give you the seating position you desire, side mirror angles, and the climate system settings. This SUV knows what you want and gives it to you.

8. The Lyriq is Ahead of Schedule

In the current auto market with a shortage of parts, it doesn’t seem possible that a vehicle could hit the market ahead of schedule, but this Cadillac EV did. In fact, the Lyriq is nearly nine months ahead of schedule, and the Debut Edition models have already sold out. New owners are awaiting delivery of their Lyriq, and the next wave of shoppers will wait until fall to find the base model of this SUV to drive and enjoy.

9. The Production Model is Close to the Concept Form

The beauty and quality features found in the concept versions of the Cadillac Lyriq EV wouldn’t have been thought to make it to the market, but they have. This is one luxury SUV where it seems the company pushed the bean counters aside in favor of the designers and what they wanted to build in this SUV. The only notable changes to the production version are smaller wheels and doors and a five-passenger seating setup instead of the four-passenger concept version.

10. You Can Tow with the Lyriq

Some SUVs don’t offer much in the way of towing, while others give you massive truck-like numbers. The Lyriq splits the difference with a tow rating at 3,500 pounds. This is more than enough for a small fishing boat or a trailer with some antique furniture that you want to bring home from the shop. The fact that you can pull a little weight with this SUV is pretty impressive. Some luxury brands don’t bother giving us a tow rating or equipment to pull some weight.

Will you drive the new Cadillac Lyriq EV? If you’re looking for a midsize crossover luxury SUV and you want it to offer an all-electric platform, this could be the right model for you to drive.
