The Measurements

BMW 4 Series

The model of the BMW 4 Series that we are looking at is the M440i xDrive because we don’t have the new M4 to review just yet. The BMW 4 Series comes in as the largest of the two cars with a length that measures 188 inches and a wheelbase that’s 112.2 inches long. The wheelbase is only a half an inch longer than the C-Class, but the overall car size is three inches longer than the model from Mercedes-Benz. This length translates to more space in the different compartments of the car.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The coupe model of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class gives you a length of 184.5 inches and a wheelbase of 111.8 inches. Another area where you’ll find differences is in the width and height of these two cars. The BMW is wider at 72.9 inches compared to 71.3 inches while the Mercedes-Benz model is taller at 55.3 inches compared to 54.6 inches. Overall, the BMW is more comfortable for you to drive.

Engines and Drivetrains

BMW 4 Series

The power you’ll find in the BMW M440i comes from a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine that is attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain is good for 382 horsepower and 364 lb.-ft. of torque. You’ll also enjoy reaching sixty mph in only 4.3 seconds when you take this car for a drive. Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe

When you choose the C43 AMG Coupe of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class lineup, you’ll have a powertrain that compares favorably with the BMW. This car uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. You’ll have 384 horsepower and 384 lb.-ft. of torque when you take a drive. Reach sixty mph in 4.5 seconds in this car, which is a little heavier than the BMW, making it only slightly slower.

Tech and Features

BMW 4 Series

The list of safety and technology features offered in the BMW 4 Series is extremely long. You’ll find standard items including automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, traffic sign recognition, rear cross-traffic alerts, blind-spot warning, and lane-keep assist. This car can also bring you Extended Traffic Jam Assist, which is a Level 2 autonomous assist system. You can also have an item that records 40 seconds of video and a back-up assist system that can reverse through the last fifty yards of driving for you.

When it comes to the infotainment of the BMW 4 Series Coupe, you’ll find an 8.8-inch touchscreen. This system is paired with a 5.1-inch display between the analog dials. Move to a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a fully-digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster and enjoy the BMW Intelligent Personal Assist feature. You’ll be glad to have the items offered in this BMW when you take a drive.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The current version of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe doesn’t have the MBUX infotainment system. Instead, you’ll still see the previous system from this brand called the COMAND system. This infotainment system does lag behind the BMW system but it does give you the connectivity you can enjoy when you get on the road. You might not notice the difference between the two systems, except for the purpose of this comparison.

You’ll find a list of great features in the Mercedes-Benz model to give you the items you want when you drive. This car has automatic emergency braking, full LED exterior lights, blind-spot assist, and an attention assist feature as the standard items. You can add an available Driver Assistance pack that gives you the addition of map-based adaptive speed control and a bevy of great safety features that will make driving right for you.

Pricing

BMW 4 Series

If you’re looking at the base model of the BMW 4 Series, which is the 430itrim, you’ll spend a little more than $46,000. Moving to the six-cylinder model will bring the price to just under $60,000 to make sure you can have the power and performance that you’re looking for. These should be the expected prices for the performance of this luxury coupe.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class

You might think the Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe would be more costly than the BMW model, but the two we’ve been looking at today start at the exact same price. This means you’ll spend just under $60,000 for this car. If you were to consider the C300, which is the base version of this car, you’ll pay only $350 more than you will for the base version of the BMW 4 Series coupe.
